I still remember the day Jinhsi first appeared in Wuthering Waves. It was version 1.1, and I had just started playing. Everyone in the community was hyped about this 5-star Spectro DPS who wielded a Broadblade. They said she was one of the strongest DPS in the game. I didn't pull for her back then—I was saving for someone else. Fast forward to 2026, and I finally got her on a rerun. But building her? That was a whole adventure. If you're planning to max out Jinhsi, you'll need to farm a specific set of materials. Let me walk you through exactly what I did, step by step, so you can avoid the mistakes I made.

First, here's the full list of materials you'll need. I've split them into ascension materials (for leveling her up) and Forte materials (for her abilities).

Jinhsi Ascension Materials (Character Level-up)

Material Quantity (Total)
LF Howler Core 4
MF Howler Core 12
HF Howler Core 12
FF Howler Core 4
Elegy Tacet Core 46
Gloom Slough 60

Jinhsi Forte Materials (Ability Level-up)

Material Quantity (Total)
LF Howler Core 5
MF Howler Core 10
HF Howler Core 10
FF Howler Core 5
Waveworn Residue 210 4
Waveworn Residue 226 12
Waveworn Residue 235 12
Waveworn Residue 239 4
Sentinel's Dagger 26

Now, let me tell you how I farmed each one. Some were easy. Others made me question my life choices.

Howler Cores – The Grind Begins

Howler Cores are the most common material you'll need. They drop from a ton of enemies in the open world. I spent hours running around Jinzhou, farming Cyan-Feathered Herons, Havoc Dreadmanes, Hoochief Cyclones, Roseshrooms, Spearbacks, Violet-Feathered Herons, Geohide Saurians, Young Roseshrooms, Young Geohide Saurians, Chirpuffs, Cruiswings, Diamondclaws, Excarats, Fusion Dreadmanes, Gulpuffs, Hoartoises, Hooscamp Flingers, Sabyr Boars, Hoochief Menaces, and Hooscamp Clapperclaws. Yeah, that's a long list. But the good news? You can also buy LF Howler Cores from the Weapon Shop in Jinzhou, or exchange Oscillate Corals for them in the Store's item exchange section.

My pro tip: run Forgery Challenges between levels 60 and 90. They drop MF Howler Cores consistently. And don't forget you can synthesize higher-level cores from lower ones. I wish I had known that earlier—I wasted so much time.

Elegy Tacet Core – The Mourning Aix Boss

This one comes from the Mourning Aix boss near the Fallen Grave in Whining Aix's Mire. You have to go past a storm to reach it. The first time I tried, I got wrecked because I wasn't prepared. But once I learned the patterns, it became a cakewalk. Bonus: the Mourning Aix Echo is one of the best main Echoes for Jinhsi, so you can farm both at the same time. I ended up with a decent Spectro DMG bonus after a few runs.

Gloom Slough – The Mt. Firmament Collectible

Back in 1.1, this material wasn't even available. You had to wait for the Mt. Firmament region to unlock. In 2026, it's old news. You can find Gloom Slough all over Mt. Firmament. I just ran a loop around the area, picking them up. They respawn every few days, so it took me about a week to get all 60. If you're impatient, you can also buy some from the Souvenir Store—but those don't reset, so use them wisely.

Waveworn Residue – Forgery Challenge Eroded Ruins

Waveworn Residue comes from the Forgery Challenge called Eroded Ruins, located south of Corroded Ruins. I ran this challenge so many times I memorized the enemy spawns. You can also purchase them at the Souvenir Store and Weapon Store in Jinzhou. Just remember: Souvenir Store purchases don't reset. I made the mistake of buying the wrong tier once and had to farm extra.

Sentinel's Dagger – The Sentinel Jué Boss

This was the toughest for me. Sentinel's Dagger drops from the new boss Sentinel Jué. In 1.1, you had to progress the story to unlock it. Now, in 2026, you can just head there. But the fight is no joke. I recommend bringing a solid team with good healing. I died three times before I got the hang of it. Each run gives you a few Daggers, so be prepared to fight him at least 7–8 times if you need all 26.

Final Thoughts

Farming all of Jinhsi's materials took me about two weeks of casual play. The Howler Cores were the most tedious, but the boss fights were the most fun. Now that she's fully built, she absolutely shreds through content. If you're on the fence about building her, just do it. She's worth every minute of farming. And hey, if you're reading this in 2026, most of these materials are even easier to get now thanks to quality-of-life updates. So go out there, farm smart, and enjoy the Magistrate of Jinzhou. She won't let you down. 🎉
