Frostbug Hunting in Mt. Firmament: A First Person Journey

I stood on the sand, aimed carefully at the weak point on the Frostbug's back, and fired. After that first confirmed kill, the achievement Wimpy Bug's Nightmare popped up on my screen. I laughed at the name. It felt like the game was calling me out for being afraid of a bug.

Next, I climbed the hill just north of that area and walked straight toward the beach. There, standing on a few small patches of land, I spotted another Frostbug. The trick here was distance. From the Resonance Nexus in Hongzhen, I glided southwards toward a small patch of water. A group of small enemies guarded the area, so I either had to clear them first or take a quick shot before they noticed me. I chose speed. One bullet, one dead Frostbug, and a very angry group of mobs chasing me across the water.

I went to the Resonance Beacon northwest of Loong's Rest and climbed the hill behind me. After reaching the top, I headed northwest until I saw the huge circular monument. The Frostbug was there, so I stood on the bigger rock behind it. From that elevated angle, the weak point was easy to see.

I teleported to the Resonance Beacon east of Loong's Rest and used the Lead Device in front of me twice. It launched me forward quickly, and soon I landed near a waterfall. The Frostbug sat close by, but enemies were also nearby. I had to be silent and quick. I hid behind a ledge, waited for the patrol to move, and then took my shot.

Next, I went to the Resonance Beacon south of Loong's Crest, specifically the one directly below the name Loong's Crest. I walked west a little and found the Frostbug on top of a snowy platform. This one was easier because the snow gave good contrast. I lined up the weak point and dropped it without any trouble.

I teleported to the Resonance Beacon southeast of Loong's Crest and headed southeast. The area was full of ice blocks. I ended up destroying all of them, partly because they were in the way and partly because I remembered there was a trophy tied to them. The Frostbug was there too, hidden among the ice. I broke the blocks first to create a clear line of sight, then shot the bug.

From the Resonance Beacon north of Loong's Ridge, I jumped down toward the north. Another Frostbug was waiting near some reddish rocks. I stood near those rocks, took a deep breath, and fired. The angle was a bit awkward because of the slope, but I managed it on the second try.

I let out a sigh of relief.

Now, every time I pass through Mt. Firmament, those spots feel different. They are no longer just anonymous snowfields or ruins. They are memories of missed shots, burrowed bugs, and tiny victories.
